Bible skills challenge

We're excited to assist families in bringing their children into meaningful relationship with Jesus.

This exciting 21–week Bible Skills Challenge begins

January 4 and runs through May 24!

We've designed this program to help kids:

• Learn the books of the New Testament

• Find their way through the New Testament

• Encourage kids to read through the New Testament

• Understand / memorize New Testament Book categories with their family

Every child can read through the entire New Testament in a fresh, new way! As they grow in their faith, they’ll also have the chance to earn prizes along the way!

This challenge is geared to stir in kids a hunger to develop their personal relationship with Jesus.. The focus of this challenge is for families to spend time learning the New Testament together. The only memorized portion of Scripture is Matthew 22:37-40. Memorizing the Book categories help children understand their order and purpose.

Kids will read "NIrV The Books of the Bible for Kids"—the fourth volume abridged Bible study that strips the Bible of its chapter and verse numbers, headings, and special formatting so that it's easier to read and accessible to all. Each week includes reading and questions for discussion perfect for families to learn together. With wide margins, shorter lines, a larger font size, and engaging illustrations, this book is designed especially for developing readers.

During this challenge, kids will also apply what they've learned at home during our Sunday children's services. This will be done through interactive games in small group format.

There is no cost to sign up for this challenge. If you'd like your child(ren) to participate in this Bible Skills Challenge, please sign up in the lobby so know how many books to have ready in January.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Each week, we'll invite participants to share what they've learned with volunteers who will record their progress. If you are willing to volunteer to do this, you can commit to the full 21 weeks, or just part of it. Let us know.

This wonderful opportunity will deepen a child’s relationship with Jesus through Scripture. A schedule for the challenge is given to each participating family. Helpful text messages and social media posts will remind grown–ups to keep their kids on track.

We can’t wait to see the increase God will bring to each family!

THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they called a meeting to discuss how to trap Jesus. Then one of them, a religious scholar, posed this question to test him: “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” Jesus answered him, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, and with every thought that is within you.’ This is the great and supreme commandment. And the second is like it in importance: ‘You must love your friend in the same way you love yourself.’ Contained within these commandments to love you will find all the meaning of the Law and the Prophets.
